From an A-plus career to a promising community, this week’s list has so far been largely missing anything crafted on a Toledo, Ohio, assembly line. But, after pining for a vehicle with seven slats in its grille for more than 30 years, I’d be remiss if I didn’t include my Jeep among my life’s many blessings.
Really, though, my gratitude for Smokey is a testament to God’s abundant generosity. After all, when you think about it, owning one particular vehicle over another is an infinitesimally small matter. Unlike so many other people, I’ve been blessed with good health; a great wife; two smart, wonderful children; a warm, safe roof over my head and so, so much more!
Therefore, while I’m quick to recognize Smokey’s place in the grand scheme of things, it’s the mere fact that God has placed my family in a position, after so long, to be able to make my childhood dream become a reality, that bears witness to His greatness.
With all the blessings He’s already given me, I already would’ve gone to my grave a happy, well-blessed man. Adding the fulfilment of my Jeep dream to the list is just the cherry on top!
Since the day I brought Smokey home, I’ve lived by a simple philosophy where my Jeep is concerned: I’ll treat it like the blessing it is, and, should the day ever come that I cease to own Smokey — or any other Jeep — I’ll count myself immeasurably blessed for whatever time I’ve had to enjoy it.
