Contractor working to put Jeeps back on battlefield

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) – A North Carolina defense contractor is putting together a project that could land Jeeps back on the battlefield.

The Blade reports the U.S. Army is seeking an inexpensive, lightweight, unarmored vehicle that could be flown to remote locations. Officials with Charlotte-based Hendrick Dynamics say they have developed a specifically modified Jeep Wrangler to fill that role.
